So what's new?

I see the last time I wrote Ani was on the horizon. The antics of her two children are the highlights of many a facebook reading day!

I have a Delran retirees lunch group that has been meeting fairly regularly (once a month) for years now...they are a rather eclectic group and show up if they aren't vacationing or babysitting or at doctor's appointments. We are actually heavy on middle school (the late Joan's influence) and light on Millbridge (they have their own retirees group).

I am active with the BCREA and serve on the executive committee as photographer and e-blaster.

I have a blog for my DEAR Friends and many a shutterfly share site for all occasions!

Talking about former students....

I happened upon this blog today and it just so happens this is the same day I bumped into Ani McHugh at NJEA headquarters.

I was there for the 2014 Communication Tools Workshop and she (my former fifth grade student) was there as a presenter at one of the workshops. She is an English teacher in Delran now and an active Association member. She is the author of a highly acclaimed and well written blog (TeacherBiz).

I also bumped into a Prospectors dancer, Erin Rae, who turned out to be the current NJEA Communications Committee Chairperson. (I was that once, too!) What a surprise!

The workshop was, as always, informative and fun!

Facebooking

I still enjoy the Facebook contact with former students.

It's sad that  so many of the current Delran staff  are new to me. I have been trying to get retired friends of mine from days gone by together for visiting/lunch. I still try and stop by DIS for photos and post them on my (still have it!) DIS family website. I also have an admitted prejudice for Delran staff  at BCEA events photos posted on the BCEA website (and the Delran shutterfly site I host).

I was so surprised and honored to receive the Elisabeth Richards Award for Distinguished Service from BCEA last spring. The funny thing is, there was an article about it in the Fall BCEA Bulletin and now everyone is congratulating me!

They are on Facebook...and so am I

Well, now it is Halloween, 2010...time flies when you're retired and happy!
Social Networking may shed a negative cast on Facebook in some ways, but I have to say it is so wonderful for keeping in contact with former students and colleagues! I really love it!

Here are some former fifth graders I found on Facebook as grownups:

Where are they now?

This blog may be a bit out of touch, with me having retired in July of 2006. There is no current Mrs. Sallee's class.

But I do have contact with former class members, so maybe the beat goes on..............

Check out the Delran Alumni Site (on the http://www.delranschools.org website) for my group: Mrs. DiCerbo's Class Members and Friends or Facebook for the group Everything I Know I Learned in Fifth Grade!

Today is March already...! It is hard to believe the year is going so fast!

Tomorrow we are celebrating Read Across America Day. There will be cake, pajamas, and a lot of reading going on! Our required travel poster came out great! The countries are beautiful and the cooperation in creation was awe-inspiring! Good job, kids!

But...now that we have started the weather unit, of course they are calling for an icy morning! What will happen ? Stay tuned to this blog for further information........

Spelling Bee

I was very pleased with our students' performances at the Bee. The Team Sallee reps hung in there for a round or two. The boy who won was very good! Mrs. Schneider asked him if he could spell the word the second place contestant had just missed, and he said," Oh, yes!" (that was my favorite part).

We had quite an eye-opening discussion regarding throwing things. Hopefully nothing like that will be occurring again.

Justin's newsletter came out great.

We are looking forward to starting contact with a class in France via the e-pal system. (I had hoped to get our Valentines project out to CA today, but I only count 19 and they have over 30 in their class, so I think I will wait for a full complement, so there will be no disappointment....)

Hooray! It is the week-end!
